The Theatre Royal is an iconic, grade-II listed building located in Merthyr Tydfil, opposite the well-known Penydarren Park. This landmark building was a popular Theatre Hall which was first built in 1891 with 1,500 seats. Designed by local architect T.C Wakeling, the building was created in a neo-classical style and was screening films from the early 1900's.
The building is in need of renovation in 2023 but offers huge scope and potential for a number of uses, including theatre, conversion into residential dwellings, or for other commercial usage (all subject to the necessary consents).
The building benefits from some recent external building works. Building grants may be available through the local authority (interested parties to make their own enquiries).
